DUBUQUE- A two vehicle accident early this evening caused traffic to be rerouted at the intersection of Locust St and Loras Blvd.

The accident happened at around 7:15 pm Wednesday night, involving a police car and SUV. Eye witnesses commented that two police officers and at least two others were injured in the accident and taken by ambulance to a hospital.

Although the accident is still under investigation, Asst. Police Chief Terry Tobin said it appeared that the police car was heading West on Loras Boulevard, in route to an emergency call when it collided with the SUV. The police car came to rest in a front yard and the SUV on its top near the base of the stop light pole.

Conditions of the victims involved in the accident have not been released.

It will take 2-3 months to get a preliminary report of what caused the crash. The official cause won’t be released for nearly 1 year.

Accineli said that the planes go through safety checks every 50-100 hours and that the plane had a good maintenance record. The two students were authorized to participate in the September 3rd flight. Visitation Arrangements Announced
